the day after yesterday…

cliff notes: the day before my birthday i made a mistake. i ate mussels at an irish pub in landlocked colorado.

i do not want to hear it.

so, food poisoning was on the menu yesterday. hours upon hours of attempting to vomit up my spleen. a nap in a desperate attempt to quiet the agony my body was going through. a pale and wobbly entrance into my birthday party. getting to have sprite and one plain breadstick for my birthday dinner.

bah.

the good thing is that krisa and my aunt jacqueline believe that my birthday was miserable enough to entitle me to a “re-do birthday”.

*grin*

i love my friends and family.

i ended up getting a pony for my birthday from jennifer. flowers from zan. dinner from hedo and krisa along with a charm bracelet. tarot cards from my aunt. lapis from my grandmother.

i am a very spoiled little girl.

i slept all day today and am feeling much better. although the thought of any food still makes me cringe.

so let me catch you up on some photos and bid you adieu for a few days while i head back to kansas.

heather in all her none-drunken glory may access her blog entries here: happy. or in the future may access them by clicking on the handy dandy little contributor link over there to the right which says “Happy“.

i have several interviews coming up in the next few days, so please wish me luck as i would like to experience what having a paycheck is like, again.

my birthday is in t-minus two days. pfft.

dinner at my house, 7pm-ish on tuesday the 26th. r.s.v.p. via email. or smoke signals. or pony express.

i would really like a pony for my birthday.

name googling!

I have to admit, I am not a very good blogger. I should introduce myself to you first. I’m Heather, in the pictures, I’m the one with the curly blonde hair who looks drunk 90% of the time. And that is all A’s fault! I live in Colorado, recently graduated with my master’s degree in Deaf Education, and I just turned 30. I won’t lie, turning 30 is painful. I can’t even say it half the time.

Anyway, I just had to share this. Have you ever googled your name? It’s kinda cool and weird all at the same time. I have been cursed or blessed, whichever you prefer, with a famous name. I typed in Heather Thomas and was given 76,000 hits! 95% of them relate to the actress from the Fall Guy. For those of you who were deprived as children, that was a TV show in the 80’s. Lee Majors played the main character who was a stuntman/bounty hunter. His side kicks were a guy named Howie and a woman named Jody. Jody was played by Heather Thomas. She is this beatiful blonde who is frequently mistaken for Heather Locklear.

My results were completly different in the next search. This time I added my middle name also and received 6 hits. One of them was for a blog by a woman in Illinois. She lists 100 things about her and what’s weird is that we share at least 20 traits. She loves the same things, has the same habits. She’s even broken her left elbow! All this info got me thinking, do a lot of people share these likes and dislikes? Is it common, a coincidence, or is it a name thing?

busy day for the queen bee…

my tuesday, in the form of preschool narrative not accompanied by photos or illustrations:

dino drove us up to nederland on her motorcycle today.

*grin*

i was very excited. i love motorcycles.

then we went to the cabin and sat and talked with dad for ages in the cool summer breeze.

we chose to eat lunch in nederland.

i ate a lot and enjoyed it.

after that we went back to boulder and on to superior where we hit the pool.

off we headed to krisa’s house where everyone seems to gather and multiply and have fun.

then dino made an amazing dinner of pasta and salad and topped it off with coffee.

i was very sleepy when i came home.

i could not go to bed without talking with zan, though!

so a couple of hours later and here i am.

relatively content and yet strangely frazzled.

so, tomorrow an interview in denver.

!

but for now, i leave you with this, because i like it and it makes me happy.

zan: yes, if you are reading this, it is my new ringtone. do not laugh at me!

also, a picture of dino, the newest member of the ya-ya sisterhood of the pink hat (more about that later…).

sometimes you just have to have a little poe…

Annabel Lee

It was many and many a year ago,
In a kingdom by the sea,
That a maiden there lived whom you may know
By the name of Annabel Lee;
And this maiden she lived with no other thought
Than to love and be loved by me.

I was a child and she was a child,
In this kingdom by the sea,
But we loved with a love that was more than love,
I and my Annabel Lee;
With a love that the wingèd seraphs of heaven
Coveted her and me.

And this was the reason that, long ago,
In this kingdom by the sea,
A wind blew out of a cloud, chilling
My beautiful Annabel Lee;
So that her highborn kinsmen came
And bore her away from me,
To shut her up in a sepulchre
In this kingdom by the sea.

The angels, not half so happy in heaven,
Went envying her and me;
Yes! that was the reason (as all men know,
In this kingdom by the sea)
That the wind came out of the cloud by night,
Chilling and killing my Annabel Lee.

But our love it was stronger by far than the love
Of those who were older than we,
Of many far wiser than we;
And neither the angels in heaven above,
Nor the demons down under the sea,
Can ever dissever my soul from the soul
Of the beautiful Annabel Lee:

For the moon never beams, without bringing me dreams
Of the beautiful Annabel Lee;
And the stars never rise, but I feel the bright eyes
Of the beautiful Annabel Lee;
And so, all the night-tide, I lie down by the side
Of my darling—my darling—my life and my bride,
In her sepulchre there by the sea,
In her tomb by the sounding sea.

Edgar Allan Poe. 1809–1849
